Congrats. I too also moved to GOS a little over a week ago. Found out a few of the apps fromy old phone no longer work as intended and I’m now discovering the security restrictions of Android 13 is making syncing of files in the Android/data folder very difficult.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Coworker wants to try Linux with gaming, Bazzite or Mint?English
5·10 days agoI do not have first hand experience, but have been told that while Bazzite is excellent for gaming, the immutable nature of complicates matters when it comes to software development, dev tools and stuff of that nature.
Pretty sure space is something we have in abundance.

41·4 months agoI think early generation CRTs had mercury and lead in them, which made them not enviromentally friendly. Not too sure if there are any modern materials which can replace the hazardous ones.

4·5 months agoI remember back in the day when i was muckimg around with my HTC Desire Z, there were loada of custom ROMs out there and I don’t think there were device blobs back then? If that could be done back in the day, it should still be do-able now? Unless Android has become so much more complicated now that it is a very big task?

Android@lemdro.id•Murena's HIROH Phone is a premium smartphone that runs de-Googled Android & has privacy kill switchesEnglish
2·5 months agoLOL.
It would be great if there were more options for phone sizes. Not everyone wants a device they needs ro use both hands just to type message or even the most basic task of reaching the top of the screen without adjusting the grip.
So yeah, most phones are phablet sized. :p

3·6 months agoWhy does every interesting / unique phone have to be phablet sized. ;(
I have and still use an Ender 3 V2.
One of the many upgrades which i think makes the most improvent / quality of life upgrade is the Z level probe. Either a BL touch or a CR touch will work. It helped me tram the bed as well as built a mesh of the bed.
“Professional firmware” is also a good upgrade. Lots of improvements over the stock Creality firmware.
Once you have been printing with it for some time and feel like tinkering a bit more, “Belted Z” mod for the Ender 3 v2 is another upgrade I did which was really great. It replaces 1 lead screw for 2 belts on each end of the X gantry to prevent sagging.
I also recently upgraded from the stock ender glass beds and replaced it with PEI sheets. I get the choice of either textured or smooth beds and the prints pop right off. No need to wait for it to cool down or having to pop it in the freezer. LOL

Linux@lemmy.ml•Do you guys just have flawless experiences or what?English
2·6 months agoAs others have mentioned, an alternative distro ypu can try is Bazzite. It’s an immutable distro, so most of the OS is read-only. The OS gets installed on 2 partitions (so you’ll need roughly double the storage space) but you’ll boot into one while updates get pushed into the dormant one. When the OS reboots, you’ll get the recently patched partition while the older one waits for updates and also serves as a backup, just in case.
There’s also Nobara, which is based on Fedora but with gaming specific addons. I think you’ll be able to easily install nVidia drivers as well. It is also a rolling release distro so you’ll get faster updates which I think is better if you want to game in linux.

Very interesting. I was cpnsidering using separate profiles, but I read somewhere that google services is sandboxed anyway, so having it all in 1 profile is fine.
What I will need a separate profile for though, is for banking apps. I have one which is adament that I use a keyboard app from the play store and will refuse to function if I have one from F-droid installed.
