3·6 days agoI’d bet a loony it’s part of a larger attempt at provoking some kind of agressive response from the population so he can justify with his base to crank up the authoritarianism.
You made this account on purpose to tell us that?

Technology@beehaw.org•One-third of consumers don't want AI on their devices, report finds, and it's not because they don't understand it: They just don't need it
1·7 days agoI agree with you that this article was deliberately framed to cast AI in a bad light as it is in line with their audience’s general sentiment. What I’m pointing out is that this target audience of AI haters is actually the whole gaming community. Which is massive. Which entails a massive amount of folks don’t like AI one bit. You see where I’m get at?
So I was coming here with my pitchfork to blabber about how code is written for humans and that it’s important to be simple and clear and stuff… but then I realized this was a jab about that dumb book. Fuck that book.

Programming@programming.dev•Separate community for AI coding?
12·11 days agoI say yes. I’m wholly uninterested in the topic and do not consider vibe coding to be programming. It’s just the speculative art of prompting.

271·11 days agoShotbolt is “representing” 14 million british gamers who didn’t ask her anything. PC gamers have everything to lose with this trial. We’re not winning anything here. On the other hand, this claim is well aligned with Epic CEO Tim Sweeny’s constant rants.
The corporations have never been more dangerous. They’re actively fighting against all nations’ ability to govern. Besides, the Kix Atomic Ring was not dangerous.

Technology@beehaw.org•Pope Leo XIV brings not peace but a sword to AI oligarchs and a slop-mad world in new address, says it's 'Turning people into passive consumers of unthought thoughts'
14·13 days agoThis is a spiritual take that has its roots in ancient Greek philosophy. Some centuries before Christ the Stoics had planted a seed for equality: they proposed that all humans possessed a divine spark which linked us together to a greater universal whole. This commends respect and dignity for all without exception, individually and collectively.
The Christians adopted this as one of their founding principles as well. A couple of millennium later we can all see how this piece of wisdom still needs tending. Leo’s really going for the basics of his doctrine here to question generative AI.
I’d go as far as saying that his argument is rooted in an idea that transcends religions and is a critical lesson for our species as a whole, one we have yet to truly fulfill.

Fuck growth for its own sake. Let’s stop this cancer cell mentality. Sustainability’s where it’s at.
