Virtual Reality@lemmy.world•I inherited my dad's Quest 3S recently. What are some of your favorite single player or 1v1 games for it?English
1·24 小时前Talking about source games, even if you think you got VR legs though, I’ve tried the Portal 2 mod and despite e how much I love the game I gave that up.
I can do flight tricks in No Man’s Sky and play Skyrim without teleport for hours, and Portal 2 fucked me up. Not sure exactly what was wrong, but I was not even started on the disorienting fancy tricks yet.
I got somewhat used to it after a while (for short sessions), and then I got to the point where stuff was broken (like turret line of sight) and it killed it completely for me.

2·2 天前I was quite surprised when Terry Bogart was announced for Smash.
Lots of people were like “is he even notable enough to get a spot as a DLC character?”, and I was not far from thinking that too. KoF is basically that niche series only a couple fighting game nerds care about where I live.
And then there were the South American people, etc coming into the thread saying “Are you crazy? of course he is! Who the fuck is Ryu anyway?”

Search is ineffective, you have to actually fight the UI to go back to older messages, depending on the device there are still somehow cases in which you can’t go back to the beginning of a thread. But thank you for putting a huge reminder that I am currently “reading through old messages”, silly me, why would I want to do that.
Oh, you’re trying to scroll down through old posts? Let me suddenly refresh the list for no reason and bring you back to the most recent ones. Everything past the third screen might as well not exist anymore.
And of course, there is the slight problem of every useful info written there being completely invisible to the rest of the internet.

331·5 天前So to be clear, this key sequence is just how windows interpret the key, the hardware is exactly the same and any other OS can still use it as the context menu key?
Edit : oh, just saw the thing about the linux workaround. So no, they actually fucked it up on hardware level. Wow.
Well, he knows that weird trick with a rook…

World News@beehaw.org•We had sex in a Chinese hotel, then found we had been broadcast to thousands
5·5 天前On one hand, the reason the story exists is because he did, takes someone who looks for that shit to realize they’re in it. So that explains why the BBC published a story about that particular individual.
If the guy himself believes this is some kind of redemption arc, though, tough luck. Statistically, imagine how much of the stuff he must have watched to find the one he was starring in.
“Oh shit, I’m in one, now it’s disgusting!”

13·6 天前Thing is, making a life-simulation-game thing with creatures powered by AI is interesting. Not necessarily gen AI though, not the ultra-costly large model kind in any case. I am still waiting for something like Creatures to come back.
However, demoing the same technology to an animation artist… What did they expect? Of course it’ll sound like suggesting that they do the same thing, and of course the guys trying to do art will not like it.
And honestly, they went to the guy that was notoriously the least likely to be polite about this.

Yeah, most people would have realized that before discovering they were a victim of it. Excuse me for empathizing more with the many that were not consuming it.

4·6 天前If we go with educational value, the full Zachtronics library.
I mean, really they should install those in all schools.
Along Baba is you that was already mentioned.
Sure, but being a frog for centuries probably beats sleeping for as much.
Wait, the curse is turning into an immortal frog?
Third person? Weird.

Games@lemmy.world•Meta progression in roguelites was fun for a while, but it's starting to feel unrewardingEnglish
1·7 天前I like Shiren 6 (Serpentcoil Island)'s take on it. Shiren the Wanderer tends to be more roguelike than lite, but there’s always been some meta progression.
In 6 instead of making you directly more powerful, it’s mostly about unlocking new mechanics and alternate routes to choose from in new runs.
There is another bit of meta progression I am not much a fan of, and that’s kind of inherited from older episodes, which is ways to save your items and retrieve them in next runs. But it was mostly the previous game Tower of Fortune which had this ultra easy and exploitable, kinda ruined the flow of the game for me.
Yeah. That is not retrogaming. That’s speculation, by assholes, for assholes.
Well I was trying to run OG with HD, the original game already had a French version (it’s the one I’ve always played, even back in 2000). But I just learned that the HD mod was not directly compatible with it, though there might be workarounds. As is, it crashes as soon as I start a map.
Honestly even though I’d heard of the project before, I had competely forgotten about VCMI, so thank you for reminding me of it (very good timing too). If VCMI let me do what I am trying to do, really there’s no point messing with the OG install. I’ll try it when I can get back to it.

The point is the first step in getting assistance is checking you’re not asking something that has been solved one hundred times before.
And you don’t even need to be registered to do that in a forum. in fact you don’t even need to know the forum exists, because search engines can find them for you.
You’re just counting on people having nothing else to do than help people by repeating the same basic stuff forever.
