That was actually a great invention, considering it replaced the unlimited hour work week (60-96 hours being normal in Victorian times). I agree that we should go further though.

Context? Looks like a (somewhat pareidolic) leather seat cushion or something.

The problem is that it only takes one ruler insane enough to use them to wipe out most of humanity.

I don’t care about “celebrity cameos” even when it’s people I like. But I guess adding some controversial people is one way for a dev to drive engagement.
Sounds like a case of Hikikomori.
There can never be reciprocal love with an LLM. But people can be in love and form a parasocial relationship with a fictional character. There were cases of that even well before the current trend of generative AI.

Watching Civilization bots play against each other was a thing for a while and it was mildly entertaining I guess. Didn’t use ungodly amounts of power and hardware though.

What a stupid waste of computation.
Centrism is okay during good times, when managing the country is all it takes and the political climate isn’t poisoned. During times of crisis, however, it’s horribly ineffective, because centrists are usually quite averse to any large-scale reforms and their ineffectiveness will only benefit (usually right-wing) radical parties.

Self hosting is great but if you want to make sure you can’t lose your data, your backup should be in a different location than your main photo storage. Otherwise, in case of a fire or similar, you’ll lose everything.

Interesting. This might actually become a good option for mobile games and apps. I’ve created a few Flutter apps that integrate Unity for their 3d content, but that always comes with drawbacks, especially performance-wise. I’ll definitely keep an eye on this.

Eh, kinda. You can buy table salt with or without fluoride, so I wouldn’t say it’s that comparable to adding it to everyone’s tap water.

A VPN is essential to access most of the Western/English-speaking internet (in Mainland China, less so in Hong Kong). The VPN might also be blocked though, so research ahead of time to find one that currently works in China.

I’m in Germany so fluoride is not a thing in our water. I don’t think it’s necessarily unethical to add it though.
For those living in countries that do this, does it have any effect on taste or limit how the water can be used, e.g. for watering plants, cooking etc?

Best case scenario is that they had already secured a RAM deal when the prices went mad, so they can now offer a good price. Even then, it might still be an issue for later batches though.
Yeah tbh. If you’re suggesting that entertainment or videogames are inherently a waste, I disagree.
