Is this from something or do you just wander through life dropping awesome prose like this?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There are only like 3,000 billionaires and they're not physically imposing people.
2·1 month agoYou make it sound like they live on the moon. While there might be no easy “law abiding” way to get to them, this doesn’t exactly sound like a law abiding conversation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Uncircumcised penis owners, did you ever wish you were circumcised?
20·4 months agoI’m 42 and uncircumcised, born and raised in America. My entire life the total sum of what it’s amounted to from locker rooms to relationships is pretty close to “huh, ok then”. I can’t promise it will be the same for your son but it’s been a total non-issue in my life.

LinkedinLunatics@sh.itjust.works•Why do you use what I gave you?!
8·5 months agoI generally agree with you but my last two jobs transitioned to unlimited while I was there and the amount of time I took off was not impacted at either. Both of these jobs were client focused billable time types of jobs so I do think that has something to do with it, as long as I’m hitting my billable targets and contribution goals they don’t care how much time I have off really. I once took December off at the end of a super busy year.
But people are more than 7" thick. It depends on how you interpret it I guess, I read it as moving 7" in any direction which means you’ll still overlap with your own body, but if you read it as there being a 7" gap between where you were and where you are now then it would work.

News@lemmy.world•Democrats’ Project 2029 Is Doubling Down on Failure
11·7 months agoIn absolute terms you’re right that Democrats aren’t the left but we’re not in an absolute situation, we’re in a relative situation. Until someone comes up with a plan to actually get sufficient support for a new party or ranked choice voting we’re going to remain in this situation where Democrats are the only real option to the “left” of Republicans.

News@lemmy.world•Democrats’ Project 2029 Is Doubling Down on Failure
3·7 months agoI completely agree about Mamdani, first good thing to happen to the Democratic party in a long time! Which is why it’s so telling to see how mad they are about it.
On a related note, thank you for the reasonable and well thought out response. All the best to you my friend.

News@lemmy.world•Democrats’ Project 2029 Is Doubling Down on Failure
141·7 months agoI can’t speak for everyone but for me personally I’m less angry about the whole “both sides are the same” argument than I am about the total lack of a plan over what to do about it. I agree with what you just said but it gets really old hearing it from people who seemingly think that simply saying the line is enough to actually effect change. Absent of a plan it really feels more like a conspiracy to divide the left than a path towards real change.
Fuck man this is hilarious. I just want to share with everyone but I don’t know anyone who would get it so instead I’m just gonna sit here chuckling to myself about it.
Tell 'em about the scalps

1·10 months agoHey! I actually agree with everything you said so that’s kind of fun for us! The big problem I see is that the people who decided to make a stand in the last election really had to plan to ensure group buy in so there was no real path to success, just moral high ground for those that refused to vote for more of the same.
Assuming that it’s not too late at this point we need real leaders with a real plan to get real people behind a movement for change. If the next four years end in a vote that ushers in change with first destabilizing the entire world then I’ll happily admit I was wrong but my fear and the fear of most everyone else who voted for Harris despite it being more of the same is that we won’t get a chance for real change without a full on coup now that Trump is in control again.

21·10 months agoYeah, that would be a good argument if it wasn’t a blatant case of emotional manipulation and a poor metaphor on top of that.
Like it or not your life comes with responsibilities, one of those responsibilities are to those around you. Your gun to the head metaphor implies that you are the only part impacted by the consequences of your actions, but that’s obviously not the case here. If you imagine 100 gunmen have guns to 100 people’s heads and then tell on the them to start marching or else they all get shot, then it would at least be a little closer. I can understand and even sympathize with the unfortunate situation the marcher is put in but that doesn’t mean he still won’t receive some of the blame when he decides for the entire group that enough is enough and he’d rather just end the whole thing then and there.
I think this is what the rest of us see as the core of the problem and what you all seem unwilling to see; refusing to vote for the lesser of two evils is inherently selfish, even if it is understandable.

4·10 months agoI remember a lot of similar arguments about how ubiquitous Flash was when mobile devices were first taking off. Not saying it will be easy or even likely not saying it will never happen is a bit of an assumption.

2·10 months agoHow is that not shared fault by your own definition? Like I get that democrats shit the bed due to greed and good old fashioned ineptitude but if the options are status quo or unbridled fascism I can’t see how someone can choose fascism and expect to remain blameless.

6·10 months agoThis is dead on. I really have no idea how to deprogram even one person who thinks like this, let alone millions…
I’ve used both for work and I’m having a hard time understanding what you could possibly find better about SharePoint. It’s consistently the most frustrating sharing and navigation experience I’ve ever had to endure.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Amazon thought it could compete with Steam because it was so much larger than Valve, but Prime Gaming's former VP admits that 'gamers already had the solution to their problems'English
7·1 year agoOr they stop trying to lock people in with exclusive games and instead attempt to actually compete by the quality of the service. I know it will never happen but I can dream.

I’m running a pure gaming PC in my living room with Bazzite and I love it for that. In pretty much any other situation though it doesn’t make much sense.
