2·7 hours agoAh, that’s a way cooler reference in the bullet time sequence; I never saw that video before, or at least not before The Matrix. When The Matrix came out, I think my only point of reference was The Gap commercials, LOL.

1·8 hours agoThis is actually kind of surprising since some of the more pervasive poisons (like lead) were reduced. I wonder if some others were introduced that we’ll learn about later…
I know people like to jump right to screens and devices and “social media”, but it is fairly instructive that some fairly prominent people in tech had set some boundaries on their kids’ use of such things…

Also - when I read that studies show that people tend to absorb the content of actual, physical books better than reading an ebook, I tend to seek out the hardcopy of a book for important topics I need to really understand.

News@lemmy.world•Oatly loses long-running 'milk' battle with dairy lobbyEnglish
15·8 hours agoReally though, do they have to call it milk? I mean what even is plant based milk? It isn’t milk. Are they that afraid of people knowing what they’re getting that they can’t call it what it is or give it a friendly name that doesn’t mean something it’s not?
I find it really weird when Big Dairy (and Big Meat) are overly sensitive about what competing products call themselves.
It’s not like people are going to get confused about what is what. Big Dairy just want to force people to name their product something unappealing.

12·8 hours agoI’m reminded of when Colbert talked about how Big Dairy wants things like almond milk to be called “nut juice”.

I mean, in addition to the crimes they do on the job and think they have immunity for.

14·9 hours agoterm and age limits for politicians (no one over 65)
I have yet to see a cogent defense of either of these positions. If there is to be an age limit, 65 is wayyyyy too young already, and bound to become even more anachronistic.
The rest sounds fine.

politics @lemmy.world•Pam Bondi suggests Jewish lesbian lawmaker is anti-Semitic in explosive hearingEnglish
8·9 hours agoIsrael, and their supporters, have been pushing the narrative for over a year now that any negative comments about anything the country does are anti-Semetic.
LOL, more like decades that they’ve been pushing that shit.
Used to be that worked when you had only 3 OTA networks and 3 cable networks and a handful of major newspapers that did all the gate-keeping on narratives relating to Israel.
They started to have a real problem once the rise of peer-to-peer communication reared its head. This is why they keep wanting to try to put the toothpaste back in the tube and put all the major platforms under the thumb of billionaires that will be compliant to the bullshit Israel narrative. When it comes to broadcast media, they could have an easier time than ever controlling that narrative.

30·9 hours agoThe bitch Blondi should be in prison. Period.
Total piece of shit completely uninterested in doing her job, but is all about conducting lawfare on every one of Donvict’s enemies instead. Turns out all their hand-wringing about “lawfare” was projection.
It’s always projection with these assholes.

6·16 hours agoI wish the Democrats would constantly try to make the names of these people a household name. Kind of like the way the conservatives did about victims of violence from immigrants. As if immigrants have a higher rate of violence. But they were rushing all around declaring everyone should “say their name”. They do the same stuff with the criminal insurrectionist Ashli Babbit, too.
Obviously in the case of children, you cannot name the victims, but the perps? Democrats should be asking Republicans to repeat those names and ask why their party supports pedophilia.

Well, at least Google News seems to have finally have two more important stories than that missing mother story - this story and right underneath, stories about Blondi not answering questions about how she’s not doing her job.
The missing mother story is #3 in the list now. At least it’s not in the #1 spot.
