It is extremely funny to see the US with a 64/100 on the corruption index after decades of the most heinous pay-to-play politics on the global stage. Also, fucking bananas to suggest Singapore is in the top three least corrupt countries in the world. A municipality owned and operated by a cartel of billionaires. Not corrupt! Then you’ve got full on police states like Israel and the UAE are in the top third of nations.

Probably not a coincidence that the biggest donor states have a habit of turning up at the top of the Least Corrupt list. Just a who’s who of Western European state agencies and mega-wealthy families. FFS, they take money from the King Badouin Foundation. King Badouin. A literal monarchical trust! How cool. Wonder where all that donor money came from?

I sincerely believe that in a century (if we make it) high school level history/civics courses will have entire units in government corruption and this period will have a name like “Cronyism Era”
