Podcasts seem to be the only type of media impossible to find on torrent indexing sites. I listen to a lot of podcasts since I have no friends and want to still engage parasocially. I’m fine with ad supported ones, but would like to explore some of the HBO-style ones. I’m not even a lost customer for them as I live below the poverty line. Anyone have info on this or are podcasts still too niche for the open seas to bother?
Edit: To those unfamiliar with paywalled podcasts, they’re quite common. Many podcasts will have separate free & premium feeds, with the flagship serving as an ersatz ad for the latter.
There’s plenty of podcast piracy. For example, look on SoulSeek. Slskd is a FOSS client. Use it to search for user “podking.”

I haven’t looked, but I’m not surprised because podcasts aren’t really the kind of medium people would tend want to keep a large local archive of.
If you’re just looking for premium feeds there are sites like piratefeeds.net
Thank you so much, I’ll check this out! 🙂

These I unsubscribe from.
That said, you have a point and I’m checking out @lemmeatem@lemmy.ml’s links now.
I think the thing you’re looking for isn’t so much “piracy” but something more like “archiving” because typically you don’t paywall podcasts cause that was a good way to get people to know about your work/site. Honestly though, I don’t know of any site that really does that work outside of maybe archive.org.
You can’t “pirate” something that’s publicly available.
I just use antenna pod and if I wanted to I’m pretty sure I could download the episodes through that and put them on a server. I’m not sure what that would really accomplish for me though.
