I tend to not really care for most new things, as most of it feels cheap, inauthentic or a scam to further the surviellance facist oligarchy state. Id be completely content with time frozen in 2004.
So, to be a little more positive, what are some new things that are actually good?
Note, to me, new is within the last 10 years.

The only new thing of air fryers is calling them air fryers, they’ve been around for decades.
most people have massive air fryers under their stove tops, they just dont call them that.
My oven won’t fit on the counter top, or in my RV.
I can’t plug my oven into any standard household outlet.
My oven’s energy costs are considerably more than these apparently decades-old air fryers (that nobody knew about).
Other than that, you’re 100% correct, tho’!
We’ve had a countertop convection oven since the mid-2000s, one of them was a black and decker, first one was a delonghi, current one is cuisinart.
We also had a modern ‘air fryer’ gifted to us, which is loud and more aggressive with the fan, but only a little faster… it has some extra accessories. Thinking of getting rid of it as redundant, and the ‘toaster oven’ is more flexible.

I have a 65" flatscreen TV that I hung on my wall, by myself.
I had a 26" console in 2005 that required 2 strong folks to carry.

What were they called? I’d love to know, as apparently through decades of rv-ing, cottaging, and travelling, I don’t recall encountering them! And none of the rv industry’s resources mentioned this decades-old technology! Do you have any images of them on store shelves? Air Fryer recipes from the 90s?
Convection ovens
Exactly the same! Portable! Can be plugged into any standard household outlet! Preheat in 5 minutes! Fully roast a 2kg chicken in 45 minutes! Fit on the counter! Operate for pennies!

I’ve had a halogen oven that was a halogen oven, a halogen oven that was called an air fryer, and now have an actual air fryer, and the actual air fryer is the most remarkable piece of cooking technology I’ve bought since I got my first microwave. The halogen ovens I had before are nothing by comparison.
For example, I had a small pie with my dinner last night. The cooking instructions said 170° for 25-30 minutes. I did it for 7 minutes and it was cooked.
Roast potatoes: 15 minutes at 180° for perfectly crisp spuds. I could never have got that from my previous “air fryer”.
I never heard of halogen ovens so I looked it up. The heating element was a lightbulb?
Airfryer was a brand from Philips that became a generic name, it is possible that your weird halogen oven was the real Airfryer here.
